On January 30, 2020, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a “public health emergency of international concern

external icon” (PHEIC). On January 31, 2020, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared a public health emergency (PHE) for the United States to aid the nation’s healthcare community in responding to COVID-19.

Most people who become infected experience mild illness and recover, but it can be more severe for others, particularly older people and those with underlying medical conditions. Here are some simple steps you can take to protect your health and the health of other people. Everyone can follow these recommendations. They are particularly important if you are in an area where people are known to have COVID-19.

1.  Wash your hands frequently
2.  Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
3.  Cover your cough
4.  Avoid crowded places and close contact with anyone that has fever or cough
5.  Stay at home if you feel unwell
6.  If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early — but call first
7.  Get information from trusted sources

Stay informed about the latest information from about about COVID-19 from trusted sources. Make sure your information comes from reliable sources — your local or national public health agency, the World Health Organization (WHO) website, or your local health professional.

PARTNER WITH US

As a part of our vision for Outreach and reaching the masses, we need your support by way of donations. We invite you to help us carry out our vision of reaching others for Christ. You are helping to help spread to message of a healthier lifestyle to tens of thousands in your local Community, and throughout the world. In partnering, you will be planting a seed that will be used to multiply the many programs, ministries and projects that spread the love of Christ to the lost and those in need. You play a major role by giving, because you make it possible for the message of Christ to be spread, via your contributions to AME Health Commission.
