The word African means that the church was organized by people of African descent and heritage.  It does not mean that the church was founded in Africa, or that it was for persons of African descent only.  The church's roots are of the family of Methodist churches.

Wherever you are on your faith walk, you are welcome here at Huntersville United Methodist Church.  When you enter the doors of our facility on Stumptown Rd. in the heart of Huntersville, you will find a casual and friendly atmosphere, lively music, and a meaningful message about the tremendous love and grace of God.  Regardless of the service you choose to attend, the message will be the same as will the smiling faces you see.  Our hope is that you will feel at home at HUMC and experience the Holy Spirit move within our services, through our many missions, and among the Christian friendships you will make through our small group ministries.

Civilized men have always made a pathway that led to a place of worship. Yes, long ago our forefathers realized that the church was indispensable to every community and to all groups of people. They learned early that the church is one of the greatest social organizations in existence. In pioneer days as well as in our present day, whenever the message was to be conveyed to the masses, the pulpit was the media by and through which it was done; whether the message was religious, political, business, or social.
